Labiaplasty in The Woodlands is performed to improve the shape, size, symmetry, and coloration of the labia minora. This vaginal rejuvenation procedure has experienced a great deal of popularity.
Why Do People Get Labiaplasty Surgery?
The shape and size of labia vary from person to person. In some cases, the inner labia are longer than the outer labia, while in other cases, the reverse is true. The labia may also be asymmetrical or experience discoloration.
When the labia minora are particularly elongated, a person can face physical discomfort due to the excess tissue while engaged in physical activities like sports and exercise.
Labial laxity can cause self-conscious while wearing a swimsuit, thong, or tight-fitting yoga pants. The appearance of the labia can also cause embarrassment in intimate situations.
The abovementioned issues can negatively affect a person’s quality of life. For patients experiencing any of these issues, labiaplasty can be a very effective solution.
Good Candidates for Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty candidates should be healthy if they want to undergo this surgical procedure. They should also have realistic expectations in terms of their labiaplasty results.
Non-smokers are preferred, since smoking can prolong the healing process and lead to an increased chance of complications. Smokers should avoid smoking for several weeks before labiaplasty and should continue to avoid it while healing afterwards.
Preparation
You should arrange for time off from work before your vaginal rejuvenation and ensure that you have loose underwear ready to wear during recovery. Eat healthy food, get plenty of sleep, and drink a lot of water in the days before the procedure.
The Labiaplasty Procedure
Labiaplasty is typically an outpatient procedure, which means an overnight stay will not be necessary. The surgical procedure can be performed under general or local anesthesia and takes around one to two hours to perform.
Dr. Lahiri will perform either the wedge technique or the trim technique. During the wedge technique, a V-shaped section of tissue will be removed from the labia. The edges will then be rejoined with the help of sutures. During the trim technique, tissue will be trimmed from the outer edges of the labia.
The Healing Process
The recovery period after labiaplasty is usually quick and not very complicated. Experts recommend taking seven days off from work so that the patient can heal and relax well. Patients should wear comfortable and loose pants. A mini-pad can be worn to absorb any bleeding.
A person may be advised to stay away from using tampons by their doctor after the procedure during their first period. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for at least six weeks, as should thongs and g-strings.
Labiaplasty Cost
The price of your labiaplasty procedure will be determined based on the details of your surgery. The amount of time required to perform the surgery will affect cost, as will the techniques utilized and the anesthesia involved.
